Charmian Ottaway was born in 1968. University of Central England School of Jewellery.
After training, Charmian developed her own range of jewellery based upon love of antiquity, ancient metalwork and organic forms. She set up her own jewellery business and workshop, and built up a client base in the York area creating bespoke handmade jewellery. In 2002 she opened a new workshop premises specialising in contemporary jewellery in silver, gold, platinum, and stone.
In 2003, Charmian was commissioned by the Yorkshire Museum to create a range of jewellery to target the heritage market, during this time, she worked closely with experts and academics to produce pieces which reflected finds specific to York.
Charmian has undertaken various commissions for private collections. These include engagement and wedding rings, silver cuffs and collars, and diamond remounting.
