Emily Sutton was born in 1983 and grew up in North Yorkshire. She completed a degree in Illustration at Edinburgh College of Art in 2008.
Her work incorporates a love of pattern and detail and is strongly influenced by the landscape and creatures of her surroundings in the Yorkshire countryside, as well as all kinds of weird and wonderful objects found in museums and antique shops.
Her many commissions include book jackets for Faber & Faber, Penguin and Random House, and illustration and design for Hermes and Betty’s at Harrogate. She is currently working on her second book commissioned by the V&A.
She won the National Elle award for Best Pattern Design in 2012.
