Jenny Morten trained at York School of Art and Central St. Martins. She has designed for industry, taught in schools and colleges while continuing her own ceramic practice.
She lived in California from 2003 – 2012 where she developed her current method of working in a fine porcelain body which is thrown or coil built.
The large coil built pieces have glazed interiors with contrasting exterior surfaces decorated using layers of slips and masking techniques which are then fired to 1080c. The smaller thrown pieces are glazed and fired to 1260c.
Jenny has exhibited extensively throughout the UK, most recently at the Yorkshire Sculpture Park, Wakefield. She lives and works in Bridlington, East Yorkshire.
