Dame Elizabeth Blackadder RA RSA



Born in Scotland in 1931, Elizabeth Blackadder is the first woman to be elected to both the Royal Scottish Academy and the Royal Academy.

Notable collections include the Tate Gallery, the National Portrait Gallery, the Scottish National Gallery and the Museum of Modern Art (MIMA), New York.

In 2001 she was appointed Her Majesty’s Painter and Limner in Scotland and in 2003 she was created a Dame of the British Empire.
