Felicity Jones finds the inspiration for her ceramics on her country walks - literally. She collects wayside flowers, grasses, skeletal leaves, fallen blossoms and even weeds which she then presses and casts into porcelain clay using intaglio, embossed and sprigged decorative techniques. After a primary firing the plants are hand coloured with underglaze colouring using a watercolour technique. The ceramic is then fired again before she then applies a gold or platinum rim decoration. This painstaking process results in a true ‘jet de virtu’.
