Collection: Hilary Paynter RBSA RE FRSA

Hilary Paynter was born in Scotland but spent much of her early life abroad. Returning to Britain she studied sculpture and wood engraving at Portsmouth College of Art. She is widely recognised as one of today's leading wood engravers and is renowned for the contemporary themes she brings to this traditional medium.

Notable collections include the V&A, the Ashmolean Museum and the Fitzwilliam Museum.

She is President of the Royal Society of Painter-Printmakers, an elected Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts and a former Chair of the Society of Wood Engravers.
