Collection: Len Tabner

Len Tabner, recently described as the finest landscape artist in Britain, paints his seascapes and landscapes on site in all weathers, often having to lash his easel to a boat's deck. His paintings, some as large as 8 feet, are vigorous and muscular, express his reactions to weather and light at its most extreme.

Born on the South Bank of the Tees, Tabner now lives on the highest cliffs in England near Whitby, interpreting the elemental powers of nature at its most raw, using a combination of watercolours, gouaches, pencils and pastels on richly textured handmade papers.
