John Thornton

John Thornton was born in York and lived in London and Cornwall before returning north. Initially a furniture maker and rocking horse carver he is now a self-taught painter specialising in mixed media. His work explores the moods of the sea and the textures, shapes and colours of the fields, hedges, wildernesses, rivers and streams that surround him. He has had many successful exhibitions throughout the north of England and in London.
