Collection: Richard Burnley
Following careers in both architecture and furniture design, Richard now concentrates on ceramics.
He aims to create work that is elegant and refined, whether thrown or hand built, and prefers simple glazes without decorative features. He feels decoration may detract from the simplicity and refinement of the form.
Richard generally throw pots on the wheel, as he enjoys the way a pot can grow quickly, and the technical challenge of persuading the clay to conform to the idea in his head
Richard’s work is at domestic scale, and although most of the pieces have a practical purpose, he regards most of them as artworks, with their possible use as vases or bowls, as secondary.
